Eight players currently playing in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) have been included in Namibia’s provisional squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, further highlighting the growing competitiveness of Zimbabwe’s top-flight league.

The inclusion of these players in the Brave Warriors’ provisional squad is also a boost for the PSL, which continues to attract footballers from across the region and provide a competitive platform for talent.

The eight players are Kennedy EiB of Simba Bhora; Chicken Inn duo Tyrese Hikumepembe and Alex Mumbango; and Shidolo Moses from Scottland FC.

The list is completed by Simba Bhora’s Sergio Damaseb and Junior Petrus, Scottland FC’s Stoffel Witbeen, and MWOS player David Ndeunyema.

Their selection comes as Namibia begins preparations for the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, with the Brave Warriors seeking to secure a place at the continental tournament.

The presence of eight Namibian internationals in the PSL highlights the league’s growing regional appeal, while also providing Zimbabwean clubs with an opportunity to contribute to international football.

For the players, the call-up offers a chance to showcase their abilities on the international stage while continuing to compete in one of the region’s most competitive domestic leagues.

The 2027 AFCON finals will be staged in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, with the qualifiers expected to provide another stern test for Namibia as the Brave Warriors battle for continental qualification.

The inclusion of PSL-based players is expected to add interest to the domestic season, particularly among supporters of Simba Bhora, Chicken Inn, Scottland FC, and MWOS, whose players have earned recognition at the international level.

This development also strengthens Zimbabwe’s position as an emerging destination for regional football talent, with the PSL increasingly providing a platform for players from neighbouring countries to develop and compete at a high level.
