GWERU – Black Eagles and Empress United have dominated the first half of the ZIFA Midlands
Province Division 2A and 2B respectively.
With the leagues on the mid-season break, Black Eagles lead second positioned Mberengwa by six
points in 2A, while Empress leads by eight points.
All teams in the two leagues have played 11 matches and wait for the resumption of the league after
this weekend’s Extra-ordinary General Meeting.
In Division 2A, Buchwa based Black Eagles still have some work to do to ensure promotion with
Mberengwa Sports Academy and Great Dyke giving the chase.
The ZRP side has 25 points, while Mberengwa and Great Dyke both have 19 points.
Black Eagles beat Mvuma Stars 3-1 in Week 11. Mberengwa drew 1-1 with Midlands FC. Great Dyke
also drew 1-1 with Jemice.
Chachacha and Shurugwi are both on 18 points. Siwawa FC has 17 points.
Mkoba based 13 Stars and All Stars anchored the log standings with six and 10 points respectively
after their stalemate draw in Week 11.
Midlands FC complete the relegation places on third from bottom in the 12-team log with 11 points.
Midlands State University Zvishavane and Mvuma Stars are just above the relegation zone with 12
points each.
In Division 2B, Empress has 30 points. Second placed Rio Tinto has 22 points. Zhombe United and
Zupco Kwekwe are third and fourth with 20 and 17 points respectively.
Empress beat Kwekwe City 1-0. Rio Tinto beat army side Air Stars 2-1. BM Academy have been the
whipping boys of the league after managing three points out of the 11 matches played.
Redcliff United and Chipaz Academy are second and third from bottom with 10 and 11 points
respectively.
