Harare, (New Ziana) – Low cost carrier, Fastjet Zimbabwe said on Thursday it will effective the end of May introduce daily flights between Victoria Falls and Johannesburg.
The decision, signals an increase in passenger volumes as movement of people improves after months of Covid-19 inspired lockdowns that brought the tourism industry to its knees.
Fastjet was currently flying three times a week between the two destinations.
“We are delighted to be upgrading this key route to daily services as domestic and regional tourism demand to the majestic Victoria Falls continues to rise,” a Fastjet spokesperson said.
To re-ignite the tourism activity in Victoria Falls, the resort city was the first in the country to offer Covid-19 vaccination to all its residents.
Besides, Victoria Falls, Fastjet also links Zimbabwe’s two biggest cities, Harare and Bulawayo to South Africa.
Established in 2021, the airline has flown over 3.5 million passengers.
