FC Platinum wants more

ZVISHAVANE – After winning their fourth consecutive league title last season, FC Platinum are still
hungry for success and are looking for a record-breaking fifth league title.
By collecting league title after league title, FC Platinum ended the dominance of Harare and
Bulawayo teams like Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United, who have won titles on numerous
occasions between them.
Pure Platinum Play, as FC Platinum are affectionately known, have been untouchable since winning
their first title, which seemed elusive in 2017 when they beat Chapungu 2-0 at Ascot Stadium.
FC Platinum chairperson Smartfin Techu says the club has mastered the art of winning and will
certainly continue on that path.
“With a clear ethos, stable structures, and a growing support base, we look to have the right
ingredients needed to further enhance a footballing dynasty.
“It is all about working together as a team and helping each other to succeed. It is not going to be
easy but where there is a will there is a way, ” Techu said.
He highlighted the club’s incredible winning habit and spectacular consistency.
“Our success is no fluke. It is a product of several variables which include, good coaching, a good
scouting system, a bubbling development project structure and sound management.
“One constant feature about the club is the will to maintain the vision of the club despite the
periodic changes on and off the pitch.
“That means no matter who is acquired, the mentality remains highly revered, something
that resonates with FC Platinum which has fast-propelled the club to become Zimbabwe’s
football royalty,” said Techu.
Coached by Norman Mapeza, FC Platinum has an array of talent that include Gift Bello, captain
Petros Mhari, Lawrence Mhlanga and Walter Musona among others.
The Zvishavane outfit has this season found the going tough as they are currently in seventh place,
10 points behind leaders in Highlanders.
