Featherstone man arrested

MARONDERA- Police in Featherstone recently arrested a 44-year-old man for attempted murder.
The incident occurred on January 10 this year.

It is reported that on the said day around 6pm the accused Tozivei Manenji of Aston village had an altercation with the complainant, 45-yer-old Vimbai Mharapara of Aston farm compound Featherstone over a lady of the night which resulted in a fist fight.

It is said that on January 11, this year, at around 4am, Manenji went to the complainant place of residence armed with an axe.

Police spokesperson for Mashonaland East province, Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the incident.

“Allegations are that upon arrival the accused person opened complainant unlocked door and entered into the house. While inside the accused person struck the complainant once on the back and once on the head with an axe and went away.

“It is reported that the complainant who was alone woke up and advised his neighbour a 64-year-old woman of Aston farm compound Featherstone who told the complainant to make a report to police,” Inspector Chazovachiyi said.

The complainant made a report at ZRP Featherstone who attended the scene and arrested Manenji.
The complainant sustained a swollen back and a cut on his head. He was referred to Chivhu General Hospital for treatment and his condition, at the time of writing, was reported to be serious and investigations were in progress.

“We urge the public to respect the value of life and whenever they have a misunderstanding, they should seek assistance from local leaders to resolve their differences amicably,” said Inspector Chazovachiyi.
