Footballer Ndoro’s body expected home on Friday

Harare, ( New Ziana) – The body of the late former Warriors striker Tendai Ndoro is expected to be repatriated home on Friday from South Africa for burial. Zororo Phumulani, a South Africa-based funeral services provider, will handle the repatriation from Johannesburg to Bulawayo.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday evening at AFM Kempton Park Church in Johannesburg, ahead of his final journey home. Ndoro was found dead in his apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Monday, sending shockwaves through the football community in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The former striker rose to fame during his time at Chicken Inn in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, where his goal-scoring ability quickly caught the eye of regional scouts. In 2013, he signed with South African side Black Aces, marking the start of a new chapter in his football career.

That same year, he joined Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, where he became a household name in South African football. In 2017, Ndoro briefly played in the Saudi Pro League, but the move was short-lived, and he soon returned to South Africa.

Upon his return, he played for Ajax Cape Town and later for Highlands Park before eventually retiring from professional football.

At international level, Ndoro represented Zimbabwe between 2013 and 2017. He was part of the Warriors squad that competed at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon. He was 40.
