Former Warriors goalie, Chigova is nomore

Former Dynamos and Warriors goalkeeper George Chigova (32) has died.

Information reaching Nehanda Guardian says the former SuperSport gaolie had a heart attack and collapsed during training with his ABSA premier league side on Wednesday.

Chigova was in July diagnosed with a heart condition and spend some time in hospital.

The former Warriors goalkeeper had just returned to training.

Chigova’s death comes just a few days after another Warriors star and former coach Rahman Gumbo also collapsed and died in Botswana.

Gumbo will be buried on Saturday.

His corpse will arrive in Zimbabwe Thursday and burial will be at Lady Stanley cemetery. The development comes as paperwork to repatriate his body is being finalised.

According to the Gumbo family spokesperson, Zebulon Mhlanga, by Wednesday they had covered much ground in terms Gumbo will be buried at the same cemetery were Adam Ndhlovu another celebrated local footballer was buried.

A funeral procession is expected to be held after a memorial service at Amphitheatre this Friday and burial will be on Saturday.
