Harare, November 24, 2019 (New Ziana) – Fuel prices will go up marginally from Monday, the country’s energy regulator said on Sunday.

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) has been reviewing prices weekly since August, keeping these in tandem with international oil prices and exchange rate movements.

In a statement, Zera said the price of petrol will go up by 37 cents or 2.16 percent to $17.44 per litre, and that of diesel by 16 cents or 0.90 percent to $17.90 per litre.

“Operators may however sell at below the cap depending on their trading advantages,” Zera said.

The weekly price reviews are meant to ensure local prices do not lag behind those in neighbouring countries which in the past led to smuggling.
