Harare(New Ziana) – Vice President Constantino Chiwenga returned home on Saturday from China where he had been receiving treatment for months.
He had been in hospital in China since July.
He told the media on arrival that he was now ‘fit and raring to join the team.’
“I feel very good and I would want to thank all Zimbabweans for their prayers whilst I was away. Everybody who made their prayers and prayed for me, I really appreciate it.
“Also great appreciation to His Excellency the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) who managed to speak to his brother President Xi Jinping so that I get the treatment in the Peoples Republic of China. The treatment made me very well, extremely well. And I am much much better; fit. Everything possible was done and I am now raring to go and join the team to build our country,” VP Chiwenga said.
He urged Zimbabweans to remain united.
“My simple message is for our people to have singleness of purpose, to be united, to work together, gone are the days when manna would drop from heaven.
“One has to work hard. For people to wait that they will get donors to dish whatever goodies is gone. It’s only pep talk. As you are aware, there is no donor who has contributed anything. We have to work. We have the resources both human and natural and the natural are God-given, we must work and utilise them and build our country,” VP Chiwenga said.
He added: “To our leadership, let’s all work together to achieve the vision which the President has for 2030 and let’s make sure that vision and wisdom which the Almighty has given him, let’s work tirelessly to make sure everything is achieved.”
He took a swipe at government workers, especially doctors, who have been on strike for months demanding pay pegged to the US dollar.
“Not that every now and again you go on strike, you strike against who?’ he asked.
