    Geo Pomona waste project draws international attention

    Harare, (New Ziana) — Geo Pomona Waste Management (Pvt) Ltd is emerging as a powerful symbol of Zimbabwe’s drive towards innovation, sustainability and self-reliance, positioning the country as a growing centre of excellence in integrated waste management solutions, the Government has said.

    In a statement, it said under the leadership of its chairman, Dilesh Nguwaya, the Geo Pomona project is attracting increasing international attention, with Zimbabwe now being recognised as a knowledge exporter in a sector traditionally dominated by developed economies.

    The company’s pioneering work is setting new standards for waste management in Africa and beyond.

    “The GeoPomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd is spearheading a national transformation, positioning Zimbabwe as an emerging center of excellence and innovation in the waste management sector. Under the leadership of Chairman Cde Dilesh Nguwaya, the company’s pioneering work is attracting international attention and establishing the country as a key knowledge exporter within the field.

    “Recent high-level engagements led by Geo Pomona in nations including Turkey and Belgium have not only facilitated valuable technology transfer but have also significantly elevated Zimbabwe’s global standing. The project is now recognized internationally as a benchmark for integrated waste management solutions in the African context,” said the Government.

    This initiative had moved beyond being a local project to become a model of best practice.

    The project’s transformative impact is anchored on the Government’s vision to modernise critical infrastructure while promoting sustainable development.
    Nguwaya expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his unwavering support and for prioritising the project, which aligns with national sustainability goals, and was delivering tangible benefits to communities.

    Beyond waste disposal, the Geo Pomona initiative is contributing to environmental protection, skills development and economic growth, reinforcing Zimbabwe’s commitment to climate-smart development and innovation-driven progress.

    The Government said Nguwaya’s project stands as a practical embodiment of the national ethos, Nyika Inovakwa NeVeneVayo / Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo, demonstrating how strategic investment, home-grown solutions and enabling government policy can combine to build a more prosperous and sustainable future for all Zimbabweans.
