Goromonzi farm robbed of goods worth US$10 000

MARONDERA- Dzenga Farm in Chief Chikwaka’s area in Goromonzi district recently lost goods worth US$10 000 to armed robbers.

The deputy provincial police spokesperson for Mashonaland East, Assistant Inspector Misheck Denhere confirmed the incident at a time the law enforcement agents have declared war on armed robbers throughout the country.

The incident occurred on January 16 this year and on the said day, the complainant Smart Chintuli (26) of Dzenga Village, Chief Chikwaka who is a security guard at Dzenga Farm Lonely Park, Goromonzi was reportedly manning the gate when he was approached by five unknown persons.

One of the persons produced a knife and pointed it at the complaints neck, while three others with three unidentified rifles and an unarmed one stood by.

The other accused person grabbed the complainant and placed him on the septic tank.

The accused persons then used a ladder which was behind the office roof to climb on top of the office where they dismantled three 345Watts solar panels.

The suspects went on to break one window and the burglar bars to gain entry into the office and while inside they stole two 48Volts lithium batteries and a solar invertor.

The accused persons force-marched the complainant for about 2km to their gate away car. On their way to the gate away vehicle, one of the accused persons stabbed Chintuli once on the right upper arm and right shoulder with a knife.

Reports are that when they were 50 metres from their gate away car, one of the accused person remained guarding the complainant as others walked on.

Later the accused person who had been monitoring Chintuli followed his accomplices and they drove off in a suspected dark Honda Fit vehicle.

The complainant informed the owner of the farm who advised him to make a police report at ZRP Goromonzi who attended the scene. Investigations are still in progress.

The complainant sustained a minor injury on the right upper arm and right shoulder and his condition was stable.

The value of stolen goods is US10000 and nothing has been recovered.
