Goromonzi High School’s pass rate improves

Share

MARONDERA- The pass rate for one of the province’s highly-rated schools,
Goromonzi High, slightly improved in 2022 as compared to the previous year.
Mashonaland East Provincial Education Director (PED) Anatoria Ncube revealed this
when she presided over the school’s speech and prize giving day recently.

The school s Ordinary and Advanced level examination results, as noted by Ncube,
improved from 83 percent in 2021 to 89 percent in 2022 and from 96 percent to 100
percent for A level respectively.

She said: “The school’s results improved last year and this shows that both the
teachers and the students are working hard towards that success. Goromonzi High
is one of the schools that we take pride in as Mashonaland East and for this success
trend to continue, learners must concentrate on their studies and shun drug and
substance abuse.

“As a nation, we will not be in a position to realise the development targets set in
Vision 2030 if our youth do not perform well and lie idle on completion of their
examinations. That is when you see some resorting to drugs. The school’s
authorities must also uphold the teaching and learning of Science Technical
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.”

She implored learners to fit into the Education 5.0 model as envisioned in the
National Development Strategy-1 (NDS-1).
The PED appreciated the infrastructural development at the school, which was
established in 1946.

The awards ceremony was held under the theme: "Fostering the development of
skills to empower the new generation in the 21st century" and saw learners who
excelled academically and non-academically at the school being awarded various
prizes.

The chairperson of the Goromonzi High School Development Association (SDA)
Madzishe Chipunza appealed to all stakeholders to work in unison so that the school
can be in a position to continue achieving good results.
