MARONDERA- For the country to continue witnessing development progression, civil servants and the ruling Zanu PF party should work closely so that all developmental projects can be expedited.

The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in the Office office of the President and Cabinet Lovemore Matuke remarked at a familiarisation meeting recently held in Mashonaland East province’s capital of Marondera.

He said: “Our Ministry works closely with that of the Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution as well as the Zanu PF party which formed the Government running the country’s affairs. We are the link between the Government and the party. Government and the party officials who were deployed should co-exist and work together in harmony because the former is the implanting partner of the latter.”

Matuke said all provinces are required to hold quarterly Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meetings that should focus in the country’s economic development.

“Provinces are now expected to submit monthly reports to Government so that we can promote economic development that is comprehensive. Such provincial economic development reports should be aligned to the Vision 2030 agenda and other Government programmes. National and sectorial blueprints should be highlighted in the reports so that they can receive appropriate attention by the Government.

“Such a move will help us to prepare consolidated analytical reports that will provide well-informed advice to President (Emmerson) Mnangagwa on the state of affairs in all provinces in the country. We must all know that the Government is committed to the decentralisation of all economic development strategies and foster collaboration between the central and provincial administrations,” he said.

He added that the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President and Cabinet will create a tracking system for all devolution projects in provinces to check on progress or lack of it and proffer solutions.

“All projects that receive funding from the devolution purse should be completed on time if the resources are made available. As a Ministry, we are creating a tracking system that will help us to monitor all progress that will be made. What we want is development in all areas in the country and where we see it fit, we will not hesitate to flash out the bad apples in Government,” Matuke said.
