SILOBELA – In an unfortunate incident, a 74-year-old grandmother accidentally fell into a 10-metre
deep well and died while cleaning its surrounding area.
The granny has been identified as Laiza Mdawini of Masukume Village under Chief Malisa in
Silobela.
Police in the province confirmed that on September 13 at about 11am, Mdawini was cleaning the
surroundings of the well when disaster struck.
Members of the community managed to get her out of the well alive but died before being taken to
the hospital according to provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
Mdawini’s body was taken to Kwekwe District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
