Gweru (New Ziana) -Land developing firm River Valley Properties group chief executive officer Dr Smelly Dube was recently honoured at this year’s Leaders Without Borders annual business summit and international honours in the United Kingdom.
Dr Dube was among seven businesspeople from across the globe honoured at the summit, held from May 17 to 19 in London, the United Kingdom and which was attended by investors, politicians and philanthropists.
The award-winning businesswoman, who was also one of the summit guest speakers, presented on partnerships and investment opportunities in the age of information and communications technology (ICT).
In her presentation, Dr Dube highlighted the way the world has become a global village through ICT with increased access and opportunities to expand business linkages across continents.
“ICT enables efficient communication and collaboration among employees, departments, and global teams, fostering innovation and agility. Strategic partnerships and modern ICT solutions play a crucial role in fostering corroborations by businesses across the world and it is paramount that business players take advantage of ICT to develop and move their brands,” she said.
River Valley Properties has interests in construction, mining, pharmaceuticals and motor spares among others.
As part of social responsibility and philanthropy, Dr Dube has given over 10 000 educational scholarships and empowered thousands of women from small to medium enterprises.
She has distributed thousands of food handouts to the visually impaired, aged and orphans among other disadvantaged groups.
The Leaders Without Borders Development Centre is an internationally recognised organisation focused on improving leadership and entrepreneurship skills while creating an environment for trade and investment.
It is also a networking centre for businesses to connect globally while encouraging global partnerships and cross-border alliances.
Dr Dube has won a number of prestigious awards locally and globally, including the Pan African Changemaker Award in Enterprising and Community Development, African Achievers Award, Global Corporate Leadership Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and Philanthropist of the Year Award.
