Gokwe (New Ziana) -A housemaid in Gokwe Town, Midlands province is suspected of having committed suicide after assuming that the child she had been left to mind had gone missing.

The “missing” child was later found playing with other children at a nearby house.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko identified the deceased as Sibusiso Ncube who was employed as a housemaid by Encile Bere.

It is alleged that last Sunday at around 9 am, Bere left her child in the custody of Ncube as she went to the shopping centre.

“The child then went missing and efforts to locate him were in vain resulting in the deceased hanging herself on a mango tree in the yard,” Insp Goko said.

“A neighbor later observed the body hanging from the tree with a handbag sling around her neck,” he added.
