Human skeleton found in Gweru

GWERU – Police in the town are investigating the death of a Chirumanzu man whose skeleton was
found in an advanced state of decomposition.
The skeleton, believed to be that of Vurawa Casian Kufakunesu of Takaedza Village under Chief
Chirumhanzu was found at Berwick Farm on the outskirts of Gweru on October 9.
Police investigations to establish what could have happened resulting in the death are ongoing.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the skeleton was found by a farm
worker who informed his employer who in turn reported to the police.
“Police attended the scene and discovered that the body had already decomposed with bones
covered in clothes only remaining,” he said.
The police said the man’s clothes which were still undamaged included black trousers, black jacket,
blue shirt, brown belt and a pair of black shoes.
Insp Mahoko said the police found a Zimbabwean Identity document belonging to Vurawa Casian
Kufakunesu born on June 19, 1960 when they searched the trousers pocket.
“The skeleton have since been taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital pending post-mortem.
“We appeal for information to establish full circumstances leading to the man’s death.
“Any relatives who might have a missing male relative are encouraged to visit their nearest police
station,” Insp Mahoko said.
