Investors show keen interest in Zim

Harare(New Ziana) – Zimbabwe’s stock as an emerging and safe investment destination continues to grow as potential investors keep showing keen interest in setting up shop in the country, an official has said.
Trumpeting the successes of the government’s renewed thrust on investment promotion, Zimbabwe Commissioner General at Expo2020 Dubai, Ambassador Mary Mubi said potential investors were swarming the Zimbabwe Pavilion at the expo, making significant investment enquiries across various sectors.
She said potential investors from countries including France, Russia, China, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S.A, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Pakistan had shown keen interest in doing business in Zimbabwe.
“Tourism, mining and agriculture investment opportunities have received a lot of inquiries,” she said in an update.
“The bulk of inquiries registered on the self-service portal are on lithium, diamond and gold.
“Potential investors (also) submitted their requests to ZIDA for facilitation in Mining, solar and hydro power generation, agriculture imports of macadamia nuts, horticultural products, livestock products, setting up of green field companies in many sectors, tourism amongst others.”
Mubi said potential tourists were also flocking the Zimbabwe Pavilion at the Expo.
She said there has been a particular interest on the Victoria Falls and safari operations available in Zimbabwe.
“There has also been an increased interest by Arab countries on Safari in Zimbabwe and enquiries on how to get hunting permits. Tour operators mainly from UAE and Czech Republic are seeking tourism visitors basing on Zimbabwe being a good tourist destination and are making efforts to get more people to visit Zimbabwe. During the month of October to December the pavilion has received 464 enquiries from interested visitors and potential investors, ” she said.
Meanwhile, Mubi said preparations for Zimbabwe’s national day to be held on March 14 were on course.
President Emerson Mnangagwa is expected to attend the National Day.
“This day will be graced by the UAE leadership. Preparations for this special day are at advanced stages with highlights including a high level visit to the pavilion, an investment business conference, diaspora engagement and live performances by Zimbabwean artists including Jah Prayzah”.
As at December 31, 2021, the Zimbabwe pavilion had received over 173 000 visitors.
