Harare, (New Ziana) – The Government has made significant progress in implementing the Public Service Job Evaluation Exercise, with focus now shifted to resolving remaining structural challenges.

Speaking at a post-Cabinet media briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Zhemu Soda, said the exercise had already brought greater consistency and fairness across the public sector.

“The job evaluation exercise has enabled us to align grades for similar positions across the Public Service, Health Service and Independent Commissions, ensuring equity and transparency in remuneration,” he said.

He added that key sectors, including uniformed forces, health services, higher and tertiary education, and foreign missions, have completed the process.

Misaligned grades of the same jobs across the public service, health service sector, independent commissions, and grant-aided institutions have also been re-aligned.

Soda noted that the new remuneration framework is now being implemented, supported by a competency framework designed to guide recruitment, promotion, and performance management.

However, he acknowledged that some challenges remained.

“We are still addressing duplications and overlaps in certain job functions in liaison with the Office of the President and Cabinet,” he said.

The reforms are part of broader efforts by the Government to enhance efficiency, accountability, and service delivery across the public sector.
