GWANDA-based sensational vocalist Kaykid had everything to celebrate in his 2022 musical
career, with his voice cutting edges and celebrated by many as his song Ngyavuma featuring
Zhezhingtons topped the Skyz-Metro hot-show, which literally termed it the 2022 cross-over
song.
Born Nkosiphithule Ketumile Dewa, but popularly known by the stage name Kaykid, is an
award-winning artist and currently on could nine after dropping the 2022 curtain at Skyz-Metro
FM, where he battled with Bulawayo-based artists like MsizKay and Everton Mlalazi.
Kaykid ‘Umfanomsotho’, is affectionately known for his Umculo Wasekhaya music genre, which
infuses Afro-Pop and poetic rhythms.
The young man, who ventured into music during his primary education school days, is keen to
steer and uplift his fellow colleagues.
I was given a hand to stand up in my career and this year I will be doing the same to my
fellows. The music industry is not an easy stroll in the park, I urge my fellows to soldier on and
work on their given talents.
To kick-start this year, I will release a video of Amagama featuring Cherry Plum. In no time,
fans should also await for big multi-collaboration and probably a debut album at the end of
year,said Kaykid.
It is now a new normal to see residents in the mining town clad in KayKids labelled shirts,
which he sells to boost his musical career.
In his other single tracks, he has featured Nyambose, Amagibogibo, Jovis Jovara, DJ Drumz,
among other local artists.
His dream is to feature with the South African duo Blaq Diamond, who are his inspiration
It will be a dream come true to have a music collaboration with Blaq Diamond and Aubrey
Qwana. They are my godfathers in music,” said Kaykid.
