POLICE have launched a manhunt for three unknown robbers who manhandled security
guards at Mazowe Mine and robbed them of property and cash amounting to US$2 000 last
    Sunday.
An internal police memo, seen by this publication, states that on the day and at around
5.45pm, Last Chimhoga commenced his duties guarding Mazowe Mine main gate, with
    everything intact.
At around 12.20am, Zivanai Shoko, who is the security supervisor proceeded to the main gate
to carry out checks and located Chimhoga at the point.
Suddenly, one unknown male adult emerged and grabbed him from behind while two others
emerged from the other side holding machetes.
The three men who wore black masks and black jackets, force-marched the two into a room,
where they tied Shoko’s hands from behind with a wire and closed his mouth with tape.
They went on to cover his head using Chimhoga’s raincoat and forced them to lie under an
    office table.
The trio then took advantage of an office door which was not locked and gained entry into
Norman Mahamba’s office. Mahamba is the Assistant Chief Security Officer. They ransacked
    his office.
The robbers took three small steel cabinets with them. One of the cabinets had US $1 200.00
in cash belonging to Mahamba, a Mazowe mine date stamp and pad; and a small box of
    staple pins.
The second cabinet contained US$180.00 cash, a pair of work suits and a raincoat all
belonging to Peter Kamoyo, who is employed at the mine as a security guard.
The third cabinet had 50 x 1 quire counter books, 6 x 50mm padlock keys, a Mazowe Mine
ore removal permit, another Mazowe mine date stamp, a bunch of keys for different mine
offices, 60 metal seals, US $220.00 cash and a power bank, all belonging to Mazowe Mine.
The trio took the property and left Shoko and Chimhoga lying under the table.
Shoko later managed to untie himself and made a report to the Chief Security Officer.
Chimhoga and Shoko did not sustain any injuries and were not medically examined.
A total value of US$2085-00 was stolen, including cash and nothing has been recovered.
