    Magunje family perishes in car accident

    Karoi, (New Ziana)- Four members of a family from Magunje in Hurungwe district, Mashonaland West province, died on the spot, while 15 other travelers sustained serious injuries in a horrific head-on collision between an overloaded Honda Fit and a Ford Ranger.

    The accident occurred at the 25 km peg along the Karoi-Binga road. The Honda Fit, carrying 12 passengers, collided with the Ford Ranger, which had 7 people on board.

    National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the ancident. He identified the deceased as Eunice Matonde (13), Debra Matonde (8), Letwin Matonde (3) and Juliet Matonde (32) all from Dixie farm in Magunje.

    Com Nyathi said the bodies of the deceased were taken to Karoi District Hospital mortuary for post mortem, while the injured were admitted at the facility where they are receiving treatment.

    “As police, we urge motorists to exercise caution on the country`s roads and avoid overloading vehicles to safeguard human lives,” he said.
