Steven Gore, aged 44 from Chipadze, escaped jail by a whisker after a Bindura magistrate,
who had sentenced to him to three months, suspended the sentence on condition that he pays
state RTGS$30 000.
Gore appeared before Ms Samantha Dhlamini after being found in possession of 45g of
marijuana.
According to a Bindura court, CID Bindura officers on deployment on Friday approached
Gore's house after receiving information that he was in possession of dagga.
According to Sheila Maribha, for the State, the detectives entered Gore's house through an
open door, found him, and introduced themselves while he was holding a plastic container
with a yellow lid.
Detective Constable Chuma, who was among the detectives, then searched the accused and
discovered nine sachets of marijuana in the container he was holding.
Gore was asked to produce a permit or licence to justify his possession, but failed, resulting
in his arrest.
The recovered Dagga was weighed at the Bindura post office and weighed 45 grams.
