    Man loses vehicle, cash to robbers

    MARONDERA- A 37-year-old man recently lost his Nissan Advan vehicle and US$178 to robbers at Juru Growth Point in Goromonzi.

    The incident which was confirmed by the provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi occurred on Workers Day around 2pm.

    Reports are that the complainant, Simba Mupandawana (37) who was parking the vehicle at Juru Growth Point was approached by four unknown accused persons who pretended as if they wanted to attend a funeral in Arcturus.

    Mupandawana is a self-employed mushikashika driver.

    Inspector Chazovachiyi said: “The four accused unknown persons hired the complainant to Arcturus and promised to pay him upon arrival and the complainantobliged. The accused persons boarded the vehicle and the complainant drove along Harare-Murehwa road .

    “They travelled for about 2km on the said road before one of the accused persons asked the complainant to stop after pretending as if he wanted to relieve himself.

    After Mupandawana stopped the vehicle the accused who had pretended to want to relieve himself disembarked while the other three accused persons manhandled the complainant and tied him on both hand and legs using ropes.”

    Mupandawana was searched and US$178. was snatched from his pockets.

    The robbers then bundled the complainant in the boot and drove off before dumping him in a bush area near Arcturus township.

    He managed to untie himself and made a police report.

    At the time of writing, investigations on the case were in progress.
