Share

Harare (New Ziana) – Mashonaland East Province is considering using mobile COVID-19 vaccination teams in response to public pleas and to boost uptake in some areas in the province.

Acting medical director Dr Paul Matsvimbo said Mashonaland East’s inoculation program would be boosted by the arrival of a new batch of 50 000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine on Tuesday.

Last week, the Province took delivery of 40 000 doses of Sinovac vaccines.

According to figures, Marondera and Goromonzi districts have the highest uptake in the Province followed by Seke district.

By Monday, a total of 247 616 people had received their first jab while 167 079 had received their second jab.

The Province is targeting to inoculate at least 1 038 372 people.

Dr Matsvimbo said massive awareness campaigns were underway throughout the Province to encourage vaccine uptake.
