GWANDA — Over 1,000 youths from seven districts in the province are preparing for a high-profile Presidential Interface event to be held at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on October 5, 2026.
More than 15,000 children of Zimbabwe’s liberation war veterans are expected to meet President Emmerson Mnangagwa at a Presidential Interface aimed at creating platforms for their participation in empowerment and governance structures.
The interface will be held under the theme: “Veterans’ Children: Safeguarding the Legacy and Advancing Vision 2030.”
The event is being organised by the Apex Council of Children of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle in partnership with the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs and other affiliated organisations, including the Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA).
Mat South Provincial Chairman for Children of War Veterans, Bolsheviks Progress Ndlovu, said preparations are at an advanced stage and the children are eager to meet President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“As Mat South Province, we are eagerly waiting for the long-outstanding Presidential Empowerment Fund, which was launched in Beitbridge by Vice President Cde Kembo CD Mohadi, to be addressed, and for the other US$1 million pledged under the Presidential Scheme in Gweru to be distributed to beneficiaries,” he said.
“Part of our grievances include a review of educational facilities for children of war veterans outside the age group, allocation of farming land to children of veterans of the liberation struggle outside the youth league, and allocation of mines to children of war veterans, among others,” said their chairman.
“We need access to farming equipment as part of empowerment and the allocation of residential stands in urban towns. At the same time, we request that the party employ officers responsible for the affairs of veterans of the liberation struggle and their dependents in each administrative district,” he said.
