Share

Harare, (New Ziana) – Opposition, MDC Alliance activist Makomborero Haruzivishe was on Tuesday jailed for an effective 14
months for inciting violence and resisting arrest.

Magistrate Judith Taruvinga found Haruzivishe guilty and sentenced him to 24 months in prison on the charge of inciting violence, of which 10 months were suspended.

On the second charge of resisting arrest, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison of which six were suspended.

The court had the option to either impose a jail sentence or a fine.

After the 28 year old was convicted, the MDC Alliance described the findings as “yet another case of the weaponization of the law to persecute our members unjustly.”

Haruzivishe, who still has another kidnapping case pending before the courts, was represented by Kossam Ncube from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
