KWEKWE – It was a spectacle to behold as Mercedes Benz enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the
exceptional quality and performance of their beloved cars during the inaugural Kwekwe Mercedes
Benz Enthusiasts drive away event at Echo Park last weekend.

Hosted by CD HEMZ CUSTOMZ, a local company specialising in the restoration and supply of spares
for old Mercedes Benz vehicles, the pilot event brought together a passionate community of
Mercedes Benz fanatics.

Humphrey Chimombo, the director of CD HEMZ CUSTOMZ, described the event as a showcase of the
oldest vintage models, the mid-aged yet powerful classics, and the latest shiny Mercedes Benz
vehicles.

"The aim of this event was to highlight the timeless beauty and engineering excellence of Mercedes
Benz cars," Chimombo explained. We wanted to bring together enthusiasts from all generations to
appreciate the rich history and innovation that the brand represents.

The classic Mercedes Benz weekend trial run proved to be a resounding success, capturing the
attention of onlookers as the entourage of Mercs, led by Chimombo himself, set off from the New
Museum building along Chiwundura road. The convoy proceeded into town, gracefully maneuvering
through a series of circles at both roundabouts, before embarking on a scenic route along Harare
road towards Echo Park.

Spectators lined the streets, marvelling at the array of meticulously maintained vintage models,
including iconic classics such as the 300SL Gullwing and the timeless W123 series. The mid-aged
models, known for their enduring performance and elegant design, showcased the evolution of
Mercedes Benz engineering over the years. Meanwhile, the latest models, with their sleek lines and
cutting-edge technology, represented the brand’s commitment to innovation and luxury.

As the sun set over Echo Park, the Mercedes Benz Enthusiasts drive away event concluded on a high
note, leaving participants eagerly anticipating future gatherings that would continue to celebrate the
legacy and allure of these remarkable automobiles.

At Echo Park, the excitement of the event reached new heights as a renowned stuntman, known as
DT, took centre stage to showcase his skills behind the wheel. Spectators were enthralled as DT
pushed the limits of Mercedes Benz performance, executing daring maneuvers and precision driving
that left everyone in awe.

As the day progressed, lively discussions and car talks took place around the busy braai stands.
Mercedes Benz owners, experts, fanatics, and specialists engaged in passionate conversations,
sharing their knowledge, experiences, and tips on maintenance, upgrades, and driving techniques.

Looking to the future, Chimombo announced that there are more big events in store for 2024. He
urged Mercedes Benz owners, enthusiasts, and specialists to keep an eye out for upcoming
gatherings that will continue to celebrate the legacy and excellence of the brand.

These events are not only about showcasing our beloved cars but also about fostering a sense of
community and camaraderie among Mercedes Benz enthusiasts, Chimombo emphasised. We aim
to create memorable experiences that bring people together, inspire conversations, and deepen the
appreciation for these remarkable vehicles.

The event provided an opportunity for like-minded enthusiasts to exchange stories, share their
experiences, and forge new connections within the Mercedes Benz community. Attendees expressed
