Midlands mourn Minister Shiri

Gweru (New Ziana) – The Minister of State for Midlands Affairs and Devolution Senator Larry Mavima on Wednesday described the late Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Minister, Air Chief Marshall Perrance Shiri (Rtd) as a dedicated, loyal, hardworking cadre and calm thinker.

Shiri died on Wednesday morning after a short illness.

In his condolence message, Sen. Mavima said the Midlands province was saddened by the untimely death of Minister Shiri.

He said the Midlands province joins the entire nation in mourning the untimely departure of a gallant son of the soil.

He wished the Shiri family strength and comfort as they mourn the passing on of a strong pillar in their family and the country.

“This morning we woke up to a dark cloud covering our beautiful nation of Zimbabwe with the shocking news of the untimely death of honourable senator Perrance Shiri.

“Cde Shiri was a dedicated, loyal and hardworking son of the soil whose exploits as a young man will always be remembered in the well documented history of our free Zimbabwe,” he said.

Senator Mavima further described the late Shiri as a “cool, collected and calm thinker and a well-respected man who was loved by many”.

“We will always miss the son of the soil dearly and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” Sen. Mavima said.

The late Rtd Air Chief Air Marshal Perrance Shiri was born on January 11, 1955 and he died at the age of 65.
