Minister Mavima recovers from Covid-19

Gweru (New Ziana) – Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Lawrence Mavima said on Thursday he had fully recovered from Covid-19, and is set to resume work on Monday.

He tested negative for the coronavirus on November 18, weeks after he went into isolation after infection.

Mavima said he will resume work on Monday.

He joins other top government officials, among them Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Deputy Minister Vangelis Peter Haritatos and Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Tino Machakaire, in recovering from Covid-19.

Mavima, who is also the Midlands Covid-19 tasksfoce committee chairperson, tested positive for Covid-19 and went on 14 day self isolation in line with World Health Organization (WHO) Health guidelines.

“Great to advise the nation that I have fully recovered from the deadly Covid-19 virus,” he said.
He thanked medical staff that treated him, and urged people in the province, and the country in general, to be on the guard against the pandemic.

“I wish all the Midlanders will continue to heed the advice from government that we need to continue monitoring ourselves and stop spreading the infection by following the proptocols that have been established,” Mavima said.

As of November 18, Midlands had a total of 748 Covid-19 cases, 771 recoveries and 10 deaths.
