“More Zim schools joining Cambridge” – Official

Share

Harare,(New Ziana) – Cambridge International said on Friday more Zimbabwean schools continue to join the British schools examinations body, with the country providing the highest number of students in sub-Saharan Africa every year.

Cambridge International independently offers examinations and or partners with public examination bodies in respective countries to come up with globally accepted educational programmes and qualifications.

To expose students to global standards, more Zimbabwean schools are offering both the local Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (Zimsec)
and Cambridge set examinations for their students.

While Zimsec is also highly rated, it has been dogged by problems of examination script leakages on a yearly basis.

Following a visit to the country this week, Cambridge Assessment group
chief executive, Saul Nassé said more Zimbabwean schools were partnering with the examinations body.

Currently, 124 local schools have joined the examinations body, up from
72 in 2013. It is estimated at least 10 schools have joined the platform on a yearly basis since then.

“‘We are delighted that our curriculum is becoming more and more available to schools. Sixty-three of the 124 schools in Zimbabwe are registered with Cambridge International via the British Council,” he said in statement.

“With our two-examination series that run annually, we are pleased to see that our qualifications continue to be impactful in Zimbabwe. We are determined to set the bar high by designing programmes that equip our future leaders with the necessary higher-order thinking skills that universities and employers look for.”

Zimbabwe’s education is highly rated on the continent with the country
having the highest literacy levels in Africa.
