Harare (New Ziana) – Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi arrived in Zimbabwe on Wednesday for a three-day state visit during which he his expected to hold talks on bilateral issues with host President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The two countries enjoy close political ties, and are now also keen to scale up economic relations as well, particularly in the area of trade.
Mozambique is a major supplier of power to Zimbabwe, and has also of late become one of the latter’s main export markets in the region.
Multilaterally, Zimbabwe is one of regional countries helping Mozambique to battle an Islamic insurgency in the north of the country, which had threatened to topple the government.
President Nyusi is accompanied by several top government officials.
