GWERU-Midlands State University (MSU) and ZB Service Centre signed a Memorandum of
Understanding that will see the two institutions partner in research and innovation for value
addition and industrialisation.

The move is important as it ensures that the university translates ideas of ecosystem into practice.
MSU Vice Chancellor Professor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa said the MSU will take the country to
the promised land by making sure industry is helping communities.

“Aircraft maintenance, food or health issues, we should be able to do it ourselves. These
collaborations are foundations for the success of individuals, institutions, companies and the
nation at large,” said Prof Muzvidziwa.

He said networks are a major resource just like financial and through the partnership, the
university can improve the nation through development and sustainability.
“There is no doubt that both partners will develop the nation as said by President Emmerson
Mnangagwa’s mantra the country can only be built by its people,” he said.
Prof Muzvidziwa said developing can be brought by closing gap through innovation and adding
value to business and industry.

ZB Bank Chief Executive Officer Shepherd Fungura said the partnership with MSU would
unleash many hidden talents and will take steps in providing value to the society.
“We do believe that we are taking a stride in partnership for future engagement and working
together,” he said.

The partnership, Fungura said would add value to innovation hubs by bringing expertise and give
value to the society and money to the pocket.
Innovation hubs create and nature talent of students as there are beverages that are already being
produced as a result of this partnership.

“As ZB we have evolved to one-stop-shop to bring convenience through improved service
delivery other than just banking.
“We want to ensure that students embrace digitalisation that is evolutional in nature and as
partners we are in the forefront in unlocking the industrialization and innovation journey,” said
Fungura.
