THE late veteran detective, former Mashonaland Central Criminal Investigations Department head, Assistant Commissioner Jeremiah Murenje, who was conferred with a liberation war hero status by President Emmerson Mnangagwa last Tuesday, was buried at his Vhiga Farm in Mvurwi.

The burial was on Wednesday with the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Christopher Magomo being part of the provincial Zanu PF leadership in attendance. The senior police officer, who was popularly known as Igwee in the streets of Bindura, died in a car accident over the weekend.

Although he was initially expected to be buried at the provincial heroes’ acre, the famiy of the late humble senior officer chose his farm as his resting place. The farm is 2km after Mvurwi turn-off towards Centenary.
