Harare (New Ziana) -Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Jenfan Muswere has praised former Primary and Secondary Education Minister Cain Mathema’s new book as visionary and educative as it touches on several aspects of national unity and economic empowerment.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by the Ministry director of media services George Chisoko during the launch of Mathema’s new book entitled Zimbabwe Diverse, But One at the Museum of African Liberation in the capital on Thursday.

The book explores themes of both political and historical literature with a major thrust on economic empowerment and national unity.

Muswere hailed Mathema’s passion for writing and said the book, his 6th to be published, shows the desire to build the country through educational literature.

“It is inspirational to see how ambassador Mathema continues to wear many hats effortlessly. His immense contribution to the nation both prior and after independence as a revolutionary intellectual is evident.

“The future of African knowledge must be drawn by Africans, for Africans. It is up to us to trace, research and tell our stories,” he said.

He said there was need to bridge the gap between millennial fortune runners and the forerunners of the liberation struggle not only to build the country, but the continent as a whole.

Muswere added that the book emphasized the importance of national building which is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of “Nyika inovakwa ne vene vayo” (a country is bjuilt by its citizens).

“The “Nyika inovakwa ne vene vayo” is well captured in this book, which evokes a passion in taking part in building the Zimbabwe we want,” he said.

Mathema said he was inspired to write the book in an endeavour to overcome conflicts in tribalism and religion while also enlightening people on historical issues of the economic imbalance to the majority blacks which is still haunting the nation.

“I hope the book will teach all generations some lessons, especially the younger who may not be aware of several important issues raised,” he said.

Mathema is a published Ndebele and English poet, playwright, short story writer and cartoonist. He has published over 20 books on all sorts of topics.

His books are published by different publishing houses which include but are not limited to, Mambo Press, Longman Press, Mathema Publishers, College Press and the University of Zimbabwe amongst others.
