MARONDERA- Two men from Mutoko were recently nabbed for allegedly killing a fellow imbiber at a local business centre.
On May5 at around 8pm, the now deceased Tinashe Chisambiro (56) of Village 98, Hoyuyu in Mutoko, was drinking beer together with the accused duo of Charles Nyamukoho (34) and Matiyenga Nyamukoho (32) at Mutema Bottle Store at Dhumaira Business Centre.
While at the bottle store, Chisambiro was dancing to the music being played by the bar lady Angeline Mahunda (27). As he danced he stumbled on Charles who retaliated by slapping him once on the left cheek. After a while, the trio, that is Chisambiro, Charles and Matiyenga left the bar intending to go to Chakwenya Bottle Store at the same business centre.
Along the way, Chisambiro reportedly tried to snatch the Chibuku beer which Matiyenga was holding and he was punched three times on the chest and fell. The deceased called out for help but Charles and Matiyenga ignored his pleas and vanished.
Chisambiro spent the whole night sleeping under a shed which is opposite Chakwenya Bottle Store.
The next morning, the deceased’s brother-in-law, Ngonidzashe Muchemwa (43) saw him seemingly drunk and with blood on his mouth. He enquired about what had happened but did not get a satisfactory answer. Muchemwa then advised Chisambiro to go home and walked with him for a kilometre before the two parted ways.”
Unfortunately he never reached home and the following day, his lifeless body was discovered by Custom Katsande (46) along a foot path that links Dhumaera Business Centre and other villages.
Katsande then informed other villagers and the matter was reported at ZRP Mutoko who attended the scene.
Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the tragic incident and said investigations were underway.
“The deceased’s body was examined and no visible injuries were noted. It was only noticed that blood was coming out of his mouth. His body was conveyed to Murehwa Hospital where it was certified dead upon arrival. His body is at the hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem,” Inspector Chazovachiyi said.
After investigations, the accused duo was arrested and at the time of writing, further investigations were continuing.
