Harare, (New Ziana) -Zimbabwean ambassador-designate to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, Retired Police Commissioner Ever Mlilo has pledged to diligently advance the national goals of peace and sustainable development on the global stage.
The seasoned legal expert and former law enforcement officer, who dedicated two decades to the police force, expressed her commitment to upholding Zimbabwean interests during her tenure.
Mlilo made the remarks after meeting President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the State House on Wednesday, where she received her official mandate.
She described her appointment as both a privilege and a profound honor.
“This is a moment of immense privilege for me. I am deeply honored that His Excellency, the President, has entrusted me with this responsibility to represent Zimbabwe in such a significant capacity,” she said.
Mlilo said her meeting with President Mnangagwa centred on the strategic vision for advancing Zimbabwe’s agenda, emphasizing the importance of fostering peace, promoting development, and strengthening the nation’s voice in multilateral forums.
“My role will be to ensure that Zimbabwe’s aspirations are clearly articulated and that our nation’s contributions to global peace and development are recognized,” she said.
“I am committed to working tirelessly to uphold the values and interests of our country,” she added.
Mlilo takes over from Stuart Comberbatch, who has retired after several years of distinguished service.
Her appointment marks a new chapter in Zimbabwe’s diplomatic engagement with the United Nations, particularly in Geneva, a hub for international dialogue on critical global issues.
