First princess Maxin congratulated the new queen and also showered praises on Miss Gweru
founder Mavis Koslek for keeping the event alive for the past 15 years.
Koslek vowed to continue hosting the province’s premier modelling event which has moulded a
number of models who have gone on to compete on the national and international scene.
“I never fail to host this event as it produces new contenders to be forwarded to national pageants
and international pageants,” she said.
Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube praised Koslek for
developing and empowering the girl child.
In a speech read on his behalf by Gweru deputy district coordinator Tanyaradzwa Chimanyiwa, the
Minister said the pageant has long been a platform for women to showcase their grace, intelligence,
and dedication.
“Let us remember that beauty pageant is not solely about physical appearances, but it is about
empowering women, promoting self-confidence, and fostering personal growth,” he said.
This year’s pageant ran under the theme, ‘The Pinnacle of beauty’ and had popular musician Trevor
Dongo as the main act.
