Harare, (New Ziana) –The Harare magistrates court has sentenced a well-known land dealer, Godwin Khulame, to seven months in prison after convicting him on four counts of fraud.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), between October 2022 and February last year, Khulame reportedly misrepresented that he was selling residential stands for US$10 200 each, defrauding four victims in the process, The court heard that Khulame did not have any stands to sell, yet he continued to deceive the complainants into paying for properties that did not exist.

Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti sentenced Khulame to a total of 18 months in prison, conditionally suspending six months of the sentence for five years and a further five months on condition he repays the victims by April 25 this year.

The case highlights the growing issue of land fraud in Zimbabwe, with authorities urging vigilance in real estate transactions.
