    Outgoing Japanese ambassador to Zim bids President Mnangagwa farewell

    Harare(New Ziana)- Outgoing Japanese ambassador to Zimbabwe, Toshiyuki Iwado on Friday commended President Mnangagwa’s administration for creating a conducive environment for bilateral relations.

    Speaking to journalists after paying a farewell courtesy to the President at State House, the ambassador said he got immense support from government during his tenure.

    “I was telling the President that under his leadership we can enjoy a very cordial relationship.I enjoyed my time here in Zimbabwe under the leadership of the President Mnangagwa and got support from the foreign office,” he said.

    Ambassador Toshiyuki said one of his biggest achievements as Tokyo’s representative to Harare included his government’s funding the Harare–Chirundu highway expansion.

    “I have been doing my best to promote the relations between the two governments and of course the road expansion projects such as the road to Makuti are my main highlights.”

    He added : “Quite recently I signed the grant agreement to support the poultry sector.”

    Turning to his farewell meeting with President Mnangagwa, Ambassador Toshiyuki said the two exchanged notes on how to enhance relations between Japan and Zimbabwe.

    “I was fortunate to exchange some views on some points of common interest; how we can improve our relations with Zimbabwe and how we can activate the exchanges and other activities between our two countries.

    “Even as I am leaving, my successor will be coming to continue to push those issues forward ; that is how we can move promote our countries relations,” he said.
