GWERU — Gokwe-Kana legislator Owen “Mudha” Ncube has bounced back as Minister of Provincial
Affairs and Devolution for Midlands, a position he held briefly between November 2017 and August
2018.
“Mbuhlo” as Minister Ncube is affectionately known, received a warm welcome from senior civil
servants upon his arrival at the Midlands Government Complex in Gweru on Wednesday to take over
from outgoing Minister Larry Mavima.
The former State Security Minister said he was happy to take over projects and programmes which
were being done by Mavima.
“The Second Republic has done a number of projects which include dams, clinics, roads, bridges and
others. We are here to carry on as mandated by the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa),” he said.
Mavima said it had been a wonderful five years and wished Minister Ncube all the best in office.
“I would like to thank the President for giving me an opportunity to serve in government and I did
the best I could.
“I am happy, he has appointed Minister Ncube who is familiar with this office and province. We have
discussed the projects which are ongoing and he will carry them forward in line with the Vision 2030,
which has been articulated by the President.
“I want to thank the people of Midlands and the President once again for the support they gave me
in the past five years and wish my brother Minister Ncube the best success possible as he concludes
the projects we have done and also as he embarks on new ones,” Mavima said.
A tried and trusted workhorse, Minister Ncube has received kind words from a number of
stakeholders who are eager to work with him.
“Congratulations on your new position. We know you have worked hard to reach this point and it it
is a well-deserved appointment,” the Zanu PF Midlands Province Information Desk said.
Zimbabwe National Youth Service Graduates provincial commander Esau Nhatare said they were
looking forward to work with Minister Ncube.

were confident he was equal to the task.
