Bulawayo (New Ziana) -Parents and guardians should supervise their teenage children strictly particularly after they return from school, the police have said.

Bulawayo Metropolitan provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said they were having challenges with children who were gathering between 3rd Avenue and Lobengula Street after school.

“They are gathering at that place and there will be some commuter omnibuses playing funny music and as police we will attend to that matter urgently. Parents should be interested in the whereabouts of their children especially, after school hours,” he said.

He applauded the media for playing its watchdog role by exposing some of the social ills.

“The media is playing a critical role in exposing social ills. The situation is under control and not as bad as it is being reported on social media,” said Ncube.

Recently, police arrested 14 students, who were wearing different school uniforms who were found at a Vuzu party at a house in Pumula South in Bulawayo.

Last month in the capital, police arrested 19 students from Corridors of Hope College in Dzivarasekwa Extension (Nehanda area) where they also were having a Vuzu party.
