LALAPANZI – In a distressing incident, a 36-year-old local man was robbed of US$120 cash by two
men who allegedly struck him with a machete on his hands before spraying his eyes with pepper
spray.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands Province Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed
the robbery case which occurred on October 28 at around 7pm along a footpath in Rangwani village,
Bhudhe area of Lalapanzi.

It is alleged that the complainant Elvis Javhi was walking alone when he met the two suspects who
were armed with a machete and pepper spray. The other suspect was later identified as Michael
Muzanenhamo.

It is alleged that Muzanenhamo demanded cash from Javhi who, however, resisted and the other
unknown suspect struck him with a machete on his hands before spraying his eyes with the pepper
spray.

The suspects then forcibly took the complainant’s wallet containing US$120 and bolted from the
scene.

suspects. He also urged people to walk in groups at night and not to carry large sums of money.
