THE price of blended petrol has increased by three cents to US$1.99 per litre, while diesel remains unchanged at US$1.95, according to the latest fuel price schedule issued by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA).
The new prices took effect on September 9, with petrol rising from US$1.96 per litre recorded in July.
Diesel has remained at US$1.95 per litre after ZERA increased its price by eight cents in July from US$1.87.
In local currency, diesel is now capped at ZiG52.10 per litre, while E20 petrol is pegged at ZiG53.06.
The latest review means motorists using petrol will pay more at the pumps, although the increase is relatively marginal.
The stability in the diesel price is expected to provide some relief to transport operators, farmers and businesses that rely heavily on diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.
Fuel price movements have a wider impact on the economy as changes in pump prices can feed into transport charges, the cost of moving goods and operating expenses for businesses.
ZERA periodically reviews petroleum prices in line with prevailing market conditions and other factors affecting the cost of fuel.
The latest adjustment leaves diesel unchanged while petrol records an increase.
