Harare, (New ziana) – Police said on Wednesday transport touts that were caught on camera abusing an elderly woman in Beitbridge last week had been arrested.

In a video that went viral, the touts indecently grabbed the woman and her possessions, and pulled her in different directions, leading her to cry wildly in fear.

The public reacted furiously to the incident, and implored the police to arrest the suspects and bring them to book.

Police spokesman Paul Nyathi said the touts had been arrested, and applauded the public for providing leads.

He warned transport operators against employing touts who for years have been a menace to the public.

“The Police applauds all Zimbabweans for the cooperation and concern over the conduct of the touts. The Police would like to warn bus operators against employing touts as the law does not recognize their activities,” he said.
