CHEGUTU — Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect known as Gunners following the alleged fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old woman after she rejected his romantic advances.
The suspect is wanted in connection with the murder of Omega Matope, who was allegedly stabbed in the left thigh at a house in Chegutu on September 24.
Matope was rushed to Chegutu District Hospital for treatment but died upon admission.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, said they are appealing to members of the public for information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.
The murder has renewed concerns about violence arising from rejected romantic advances, with police urging the public to report any information that may assist in bringing the suspect to justice.
“Anyone with information should report it at the nearest police station or contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242703631 or WhatsApp 0712800197,” he said.
