In an interview with New Ziana, Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Monica Mavhunga said 99. 9 percent of the works had been completed with 40 boreholes having been sunk, while NetOne had finished installing Wifi at the venue.

Roads leading to the venue were also being rehabilitated starting from Harare.

Private contractors were rehabilitating sections of the road from Harare to Bindura while the Central Mechanical Equipment Department doing the remaining portion to Mt Darwin.

Mavhunga said there was adequate food and drinks for all the guests which they would be given as they entered the venue.

She said plans to hold a ritual ceremony in the Chibondo area where bodies of civilians and ex-combatants who were killed by the colonial regime during the liberation war and were retrieved from a disused mine a few years ago were also at an advanced stage.

“The rituals will be done on 17 April as well as the children’s party and an all-night gala before the main event on 18 April,” she said, adding the roads leading to the site had also been upgraded.

Mavhunga said, as a province they had been honoured to host such a high-profile national event.

“Mashonaland Central province was the epicentre of the liberation war and everyone in the province is ready for the historic event,” she said.
