Harare (New Ziana)- President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday, appointed Ambassador Fredrick Shava, Zimbabwe’s permanent representative to the United Nations as Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister and Chikomba Central Legislator Felix Mhona as Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development.

The two replace Dr Sibusiso Moyo and Biggie Joel Matiza respectively who both succumbed to Covid-19 complications last month.

Makonde West legislator, Kindness Paradza has also been appointed deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services while Ruth Mavhunga Mabhoyi, Beitbridge West MP becomes Home Affairs deputy Minister. He replaces Mike Madiro who is now deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development.

Chimanimani West Legislator Nokhuthula Matsikenyere has also been appointed Manicaland Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution, filling in the post left by Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba, who died of COVID-19 last month.

In a statement, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda said Dr Shava’s appointment as Foreign Affairs Minister awaits gazetting.

“In terms of section 157 (1) (d) (i) (ii) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (amendment number 20) of 2013, His Excellency the President E.D Mnangagwa has appointed Dr Fredrick Shava, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the United Nations, New York, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. The appointment of Dr Shava will take effect upon issuance of an appropriate gazette as Senator for the Midlands Province,” he said.
