President Mnangagwa celebrates 79th birthday

Harare (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday celebrated his 79th birthday with congratulatory messages pouring in from within the country and abroad.

President Mnangagwa, who took office in November 2017, is a practical person who always insists on less talk, more action.

Under his stewardship, the country has undergone rapid economic transformation through increased foreign and domestic investments, unprecedented infrastructure development and the freeing up of democratic spaces.

Against all odds, Zimbabwe has also managed the Coronavirus pandemic well through, among other strategies, a highly impressive vaccination programme.

Having promised a new and better Zimbabwe when he assumed power in 2017, the overwhelming conclusion among progressive Zimbabweans is that so far, so good.

President Mnangagwa has indeed walked the talk.

It is the achievements that his government has scored within a short space of time and the promising future under his leadership that the nation warmly celebrated with him on his 79th birthday.

The ruling Zanu PF party described President Mnangagwa as a visionary, gallant and patriotic leader.

“As we mark your birthday Your Excellency, we learn from your long story, the virtues of endurance, bravery, servant leadership, patriotism, loyalty and focus,” the party said in a statement.

The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) hailed President Mnangagwa as a visionary leader.

“A true patriot, fearless revolutionary and veteran of the Second Chimurenga that liberated Zimbabwe from colonial bondage, Cde Mnangagwa has devoted an entire lifetime to nation building and the advancement of the values of freedom, unity, peace, and solidarity in pursuit of the development agenda,” it said.

“Through his wise stewardship of the Second Republic, our country has scaled new heights in the entrenchment of democratic values and institutions which facilitate socio-economic empowerment of the previously downtrodden majority.”

The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services also paid tribute to President Mnangagwa for his exceptional leadership.

“We are gratified by your relentless efforts to guide the country towards Vision 2030 to transform the economy into an upper middle income society,” the Ministry said.

“We are confident of a sustained development trajectory under your leadership and we want to wish you all the success, good health, peace and prosperity as you drive the National Development Strategy 1 agenda.”

The Public Service Commission (PSC) also joined in, saying the public sector reforms spearheaded by President Mnangagwa had instilled a new work culture among government workers.

“Your visionary leadership and unflinching focus on results continues to energize us. The upward trajectory on which you are steering our country’s socio-economic fortunes is clearly defined for all of us in the public service as we endeavour to deliver the service that support the attainment of the strategic goals you have set through Vision 2030,” the PSC said.

“In the public service, a wind of culture change is ushering in a new cadre of civil servant who is patriotic and oriented towards servant leadership and high performance.”

The Russian government, one of Zimbabwe’s strongest global allies, also wished the President well.

“The Embassy of the Russian Federation congratulates H.E. the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa on his 79th Birthday. The strategic Vision 2030 initiated by President Mnangagwa provides favorable conditions for expanding mutually beneficial Russia-Zimbabwe cooperation in various spheres in pursuance of the bilateral arrangements made in the course of the ongoing political dialogue with President Putin,” the Russian embassy in Harare tweeted.

“We wish You, Your Excellency, good health and every success at the helm of the State!”
