Harare (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday comforted opposition MDC-Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa, following the death of his mother on Monday.

Ambuya Chamisa died at her rural home in Gutu.

In a condolence message, President Mnangagwa said: “It was sad to hear of the passing of Ambuya Chamisa, the mother of Nelson Chamisa. Our thoughts and prayers are with Advocate Nelson Chamisa and the Chamisa family at this difficult time.”

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Lieutenant General Sibusiso Moyo (Rtd) also took to twitter to express his condolences.

“Allow me to express my deepest condolences on the untimely passing on of Gogo Chamisa, your dear mother. May Advocate Chamisa find comfort in the word of God and may her departed soul rest in eternal peace.”

Chamisa said his mother had collapsed and died.

“She toiled to educate me. I know all our mothers do the same for families. She taught me industry, respect, discipline, integrity and hard-work. A hard-working, multi-talented woman, a prayer warrior and pillar in the faith. She just collapsed yesterday at 4 PM, she has gone to be with the Lord,” he eulogised on social media.
